Violette is a 15 year old, Osceola High School student who is active in band and local church activities. She has been diagnosed with Chiari Malformation, a condition where the cerebellum is pushed down into the upper part of the spinal canal. This can cause problems because it puts pressure on the brain and spinal cord, causing debilitating symptoms like headaches, neck pain, difficulty swallowing, balance problems, and even problems with the arms and legs. Surgery is often needed to relieve the pressure and help improve the symptoms. Violette had decompression surgery on Aug 14th, 2023 in St. Louis and is now following a strenuous recovery schedule. Money raised by the CFAC event Saturday, Sept 23, 2023 went towards Violette and her family’s expenses related to this medical treatment.
